Nice and cosy now!
We have externally insulated Mike’s existing brick cottage with woodfibre insulation board and lime render ensuring a fully breathable construction and using low embodied carbon materials. Windows are replaced with double glazed and a french drain installed to reduce the risks of internal moisture ingress.
A timber frame and timber clad extension, with a red tin roof to match is proposed adding much wanted space and taking advantage of the great views of the orchard. It is to be constructed to passivhaus standards using PHPP as part of the design process.
Phase one – the external insulation and replacement of windows to the existing cottage has been completed.
