Woodfibre and Timber Construction

The brief was for a simple shed which would sit comfortably with its neighbours, built from minimal and environmentally friendly materials and because it was to have no heating it also needed to be very thermally efficient.

We decided to build the shed out of timber and insulate it with wood fibre battons and wood fibre boards externally to minimise thermal bridging and reduce summer over heating. OSB provides a snuggy airtight layer internally. The timber slats externally protect the gaps between the butt jointed timber boards and mimic the pattern of the lightweight tin roof.

Light was a big consideration in the project and the internal ply lining and large roof windows do create a nice light interior.
