Working towards planning…
Careful considered interventions which maximise low carbon retrofit and prioritise reuse.
This is an ambitious full eco-refurbishment targeting the AECB Retrofit and Net Zero Building standard, delivering a high-performance, low-carbon future for a sensitive heritage site.
A programme of co-design workshops with local friends groups has helped shape the design, ensuring it reflects shared priorities around community use, sustainability, and heritage conservation.
The proposed works include:
Upgraded interiors to the meeting space
Improved biodiversity in the courtyard
New triple and secondary glazing
Enhanced airtightness
External and internal insulation
Fire-rated accessible lift installation
ASHP and MVHR systems
Bio solar roof (Pvs and sedum)
These interventions will deliver a more comfortable, uplifting environment with greatly reduced operational energy demand, while strengthening the site’s relationship to both its community and natural setting.
